Miller Signs Americans for Tax Reform’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. - Tim Miller, the conservative candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s Seventh Congressional District, signed the Americans for Tax Reform's Taxpayer Protection Pledge. This pledge is a written commitment to opposing any and all tax increases. Miller’s signature comes as the U.S. National Debt reached $20 trillion for the first time.
The Americans for Tax Reform pledge is seen by conservative voters as a litmus test of a candidate’s commitment to fiscal restraint. The pledge reads: “I, Tim Miller, pledge to the taxpayers of the state of Minnesota, and to the American people that I will: One, oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses; and Two, oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollars for dollar by further reducing tax rates.”
The pledge required two witnesses to verify Miller’s signature. Miller signed in front of two of his daughters because he knows their generation will shoulder the fiscal mess the federal government has created by its out-of-control spending.
“I pledge to the taxpayers and to my children that I will fight the fiscal insanity coming out of Washington,” said Miller. “$20 trillion in debt must be Congress’ wakeup call. The debt has spiraled out of control in the 27 years Rep. Collin Peterson has represented Minnesota’s Seventh District in Congress. If voters elect me they can count on me to be loyal to my Taxpayer Protection Pledge and to fight for lower taxes and spending cuts.”

Tim Miller offers a fresh voice for Minnesota’s 7th Congressional District. Minnesotans know the value of hard work, and Miller is no exception. Miller worked tirelessly to put himself through college, honorably serve in the U.S. Army Reserves, run small businesses and he currently represents his neighbors in St. Paul as State Representative for District 17a. Miller and his wife, Cherie, live in Prinsburg in Kandiyohi County where they have been blessed with a blended family of seven children and four grandchildren.
Americans for Tax Reform opposes all tax increases as a matter of principle. Americans for Tax Reform was founded in 1985 by Grover Norquist at the request of President Reagan. The flagship project of Americans for Tax Reform is the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a written promise by legislators and candidates for office that commits them to oppose any effort to increase income taxes on individuals and businesses.
