Tim Miller Endorsed by Minnesota State Representative John Poston (9A)
June 21, 2017 – Alexandria, MN… Tim Miller, the conservative candidate for Congress in Minnesota’s Seventh Congressional District has announced the endorsement of Representative John Poston (9A) of the central Minnesota lake country.
Representative Poston issued the following comments about his endorsement for Miller in the race for MN-07: “Tim Miller is the tested conservative who is going to win this district for us. Tim’s earned my endorsement by the blood, sweat and tears he’s shed for conservatives in the Minnesota House. For rural Minnesotans it’s been too long since we’ve had the representation we deserve at the federal level. Our current representation manages downward trends, slow economic growth and waning innovation. I believe with Tim’s courageous leadership and commitment to conservative principals, we can have broad-based prosperity in our rural district. I’m with Tim. It’s time.”
In response to Representative Poston’s endorsement, Miller had the following comments: “Elected office is the proving ground for Minnesota conservatives. In the legislature, there’s a core of conservatives that keep our fellow Republicans anchored. John and I link arm-in-armin the fight for conservative principles. I am humbled to have his support in my run for Congress. It’s a true honor to have his support in this race, and I look forward to continuing to build our leadership team as this race develops.”
John Poston is in his first term serving as the State Representative for District 9A, which includes Todd County in the 7th Congressional District in addition to adjacent counties. Poston serves on the Agriculture Finance, Agriculture Policy, Capital Investment, Education Finance, and Veterans Affairs Committees in the Minnesota House. The former Mayor of Lake Shore, Minnesota, Poston is a retired retail executive, and founder of a Brainerd Lakes nonprofit called Kids Against Hunger. Poston also owns Sherwood Forest, a Lake Shore area restaurant.
Tim Miller is a U.S. Army Veteran, small business owner and Member of the MN House of Representatives. As Vice Chair of the Agriculture Finance Committee, Tim successfully led efforts to roll back burdensome state regulations that have gotten in the way of agribusiness. Notably, he stood up against legislation backed by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency that have resulted in devastating regulatory restraints on the sugar beet and ethanol industries. Miller was the chief author of the Rural Finance Authority bill that received unanimous bipartisan support and was signed into law by Governor Dayton in February, 2017. He lives with his wife Cherie and their family in the town of Prinsburg in Kandiyohi County. Tim and Cherie have been blessed with a blended family of seven children and four grandchildren.
